The Representatives,
Recalling the centrality of scientific cooperation in the Antarctic Treaty and its Protocol on Environmental Protection;
Recognising, with appreciation, the contributions of the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research and the Council of Managers of National Antarctic Programs to scientific and logistical cooperation among the Antarctic Treaty Parties;
Convinced of the need to promote broader Antarctic cooperation beyond scientific and logistical cooperation to facilitate and strengthen the work of the Parties in the implementation of the Antarctic Treaty system;
Convinced that sharing of knowledge, experience and technical support will help Parties at an earlier stage in their Antarctic development to achieve a higher level of compliance with their obligations;
Acknowledging that further cooperation will better equip Parties to respond to the multiple challenges posed by Antarctic activities;
Recommend that:
the Parties and other Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting participants conduct a discussion on promoting broader Antarctic cooperation.
